Teacher Guidelines

The 2026 EIMTA Piano Competition will be held Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7, 2026, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

A repertoire list featuring American composers is attached below for this year’s event.

Registration
Registration is open between Septmber 1-September 25.

September 25 is the final deadline. No changes can be made after this date.

Registration Fees
Each teacher pays a teacher fee of $25, and $25 per student.

Preliminary Round:
Held Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
All students within each level will perform the same required piece.

Finals Recitals:
Held Saturday afternoon in two separate recitals:
1:00 p.m. – Odd-numbered levels
2:30 p.m. – Even-numbered levels

Adjudication
Professional adjudicators will evaluate all preliminary performances.
Written comments will be provided to teachers after the competition.
Each adjudicator will select two students per level to advance to the Finals recital.

Attendance Requirement
Students must be available to perform in the Finals recital if selected.
If a student has an unavoidable conflict, they may still play in the preliminary round for comments only, but they will not be eligible for the Finals.

Monetary Awards
All students selected for the Finals recital will receive participation medals and cash awards.

Levels 1-8:  $50 First Place, $40 Second Place, $30 Third Place
Levels 9-14:  $100 First Place, $75 Second Place, $50 Third Place
